Judging by the article abstract (http://dienekes.blogspot.com/2007/01/mtdna-differences-between-populations.html) the above table is apparently intended mainly to show differences in the maternal (mtDNA) haplogroup lineages of two populations of Ashkenazi Jews, but it also shows Ashkenazi Jews and Slavs to be distinct races (we didn't need modern genetics to tell us that, of course): according to the table, Jewish and Slavic maternal genetic lineages differ significantly with respect to frequencies of mitochondrial haplogroups K, H, U (non K), N1, X, somewhat also T, and a few others.

I was under the impression that Ashkenazi Jews were a melange of mainly Middle Easterner, Slav, and Turko-Mongolian elements.

I see the table I posted has disappeared. I must have posted it the wrong way. If someone tells me the proper way, I'll post it again. (The way I did it was to right-click on the original table at Dienekes' site, copy the image's URL, then post that here, enclosed between img and /img in brackets.)

According to most studies I see, Ashkenazi Jews are half eastern European (on the mom's side) and half Israelite (On the dad's side). The further east you go, the more Slavic. The further west you go, the more Israelite. In other words a Russian Jews may be very slavic, whereas a Polish Jew will be more Israelite.

Either way, they are without a doubt close to 100% Caucasoid.
