I was wondering if you could provide a reasonably accurate figure for the amount of people generally and Jews specifically that the Einsatzgruppen were responsible for murdering during the holocaust.

If you can do so, could you further direct me towards the best overall documentary source for this figure.

I have looked at some, but not all, of the "Operational Special Reports" and other similar records such as Karl Jaeger's, but I'd like a source for the overall figure: I'm presuming this is a cumulative tally from such reports as those referenced above?

Einsatzgruppen killed 900,000 Jews according to Hilberg's book "The Destruction of European Jews", I believe he based that figure on the "Operation Reports" you're referring to.


We should remember that Einsatzgruppen's entire reason for existance was ostensibly to fight partisans (today, of course, partisans would be called 'terrorists', 'guerrillas' or something similiar), so what isn't known for sure is how many of those Jews really were partisans/terrorists and how many were innocent.
