Obama’s Imperialist Aims in Iraq

Barack Obama, the Democratic Party’s messiah for “Change,” is already showing how unremarkable he really is with the latest announcement that, upon assuming the Executive Office, he plans to leave tens of thousands of “residual” troops on the ground in Iraq, despite his empty campaign promises to “end the Iraq War.”

This is what Obama had to say, according to the International Herald Tribune:

I said that I would remove our combat troops from Iraq in 16 months, with the understanding that it might be necessary – likely to be necessary – to maintain a residual force to provide potential training, logistical support, to protect our civilians in Iraq.

Even after an official withdrawal, Obama’s choice for National Secuity Adviser, Richard Danzig, estimated that the leftover forces may be somewhere in the range of 30,000 – 50,000 occupying troops.

The contradictions between the garbage that comes out of President-elect Barack Obama’s campaign slogans and his true policy intentions should come to no surprise to anyone with the foresight to see that Obama is nothing more than an agent of international capitalism and Zionism.

Anybody who would suspect that a mainstream politician, representative of the exploiting class, could produce anything remotely contrary to the status quo is either full of infantile idealism or (more than likely) obscenely ignorant to the reality of American politics.

The article from the International Herald Tribune remarked, “To date, there has been no significant criticism from the anti-war left of the Democratic Party of the prospect that Obama will keep tens of thousands of troops in Iraq for at least several years.”

Well of course. The Democratic Party is by no means an organ of change whatsoever. It’s the identical twin of the Republican Party that makes up the grotesquely limited paradigm of American politics. If anything, it’s worse than the Republican party for the reason that it masquerades as an organization symbolizing false promises of “progress.”

Barack Obama’s election was neither significant nor remarkable. History will remember President-elect Obama as yet another American imperialist – different exploiter leading the same rotten system. The world’s oppressed people will let out a collective groan, after the media excitement over Obama’s “historic” election is brought into proper context, and America’s neo-colonial war of terror continues to ravage the globe.
